General identification features

• Black dragonflies with clear-cut greenish markings (luminous pale green ban on abdomen)

Habitat and behaviour:

• Favour small shaded bodies of water. They especially like pools in or by forest streams, perching low above the surface and often in full shade, escaping upwards at the slightest disturbance. Eggs are laid on material above the water surface.
